How does your character handle stress? What do they do in an emergency?

Do a lot of pushups and learn to use firearms, mostly... Or: it depends on the type of stress. In a medical emergency, specifically, whether that's in a hospital or on the side of the road somewhere, Tenma is a consummate professional; there's no one better to have looking after your grievous injuries when in dire need. He's fast-acting and efficient, doesn't let his personal feelings interfere, and acts completely without bias. Even if someone is actively trying to harm him in some way (like trying to arrest him, for example), he will drop everything to be the professional surgeon if they're in need. In other emergencies, he still manages that fast-acting reaction time, but he's less in his element; he tries to keep a cool head for other people's sake and rally whoever is around to help. Basically: if the stress is outside and other people are impacted, Tenma is there and on point, but if it's internal... he does his best. He tries not to burden others with his problems even when he probably should ask for help, and he shuts down completely and disappears sometimes rather than let anyone catch him about to make bad decisions. This in itself is another effort to help others, by keeping them out of his personal problems... it's just not a good method.

What are your character’s ambitions/goals? Why are they important to your character?

Previously, Tenma's ambitions centered around his career; he wanted to further his career and work under doctors he admired to accomplish the real goal of helping as many people as possible. After being exposed to corruption and having his career trashed, Tenma's ambitions have strayed from career-climbing and stuck firmly in helping people. He genuinely cannot resist sticking his nose into other people's problems, whether that be to staple shut the wound of someone trying to kill him or to walk for hours over several miles to bring a couple of strangers gas for their car. This is just the kind of person he is; it's reward enough to see a grateful smile and hear someone's thanks, whether or not they even asked for his help. From Tenma's own perspective, this is important to him because he took the dang oath—he's a doctor, no many how many times his faith in himself has been shaken. Since he took the oath to help others and do no harm, he is dedicated to an excessive degree to providing aid and care to whoever he meets. It's how he keeps winding up collecting strays and ingratiating himself with communities wherever he goes, unintentionally or otherwise. For as troubled and destitute Tenma feels his personal life is, it's incredibly important to him to fulfill that goal of helping others and living an exemplary life (by helping others specifically). If he can't do that, he feels like he's betrayed himself and the people he's failed.

What are your character’s fears? How do they hinder or challenge your character?

Tenma's fears center around his own personal character, and the guilt he carries over Johan's crimes. Objectively, Tenma knows Johan's actions aren't his responsibility, but he still feels that responsibility; as such, one of his big fears is that more and more people will be hurt or killed and that the guilt will rest with him, as the person who kept Johan alive. The fact that he decides he has to be the one to kill Johan to make up for this leads to Tenma's more visceral fear: that he is the type of person who could take a life. It terrifies Tenma that he's capable of committing that much violence, even as he learns to shoot a gun and hunts Johan down for years. When he's in the moment, gun in hand, Johan or another threat to his life in front of him, he's paralyzed by the fear that this is who he is now; and the rest of the time, it takes its toll on him mentally and physically. As the years pass he withdraws more and more from the people he loves, and he isn't exactly taking bang-up good care of himself physically by the time he finally confronts Johan. The fear that he could be capable of killing haunts him, even as he proves himself unable to pull the trigger time and again.
